Noticeable Vibration at 65MPH After U and Ball Joint Replacement
Hi all... me again. I had the ball joints and u joints swapped out in my Ex a week ago and something's been bothering me. I get a vibration when cresting 65mph that I can't pinpoint. It's not violent and it doesn't appear to be in the steering wheels as it's straight and not jerking at all. It doesn't really affect anything that I can tell either... it's not the vibration from out of balance tires or cupped tires, it's just enough to be annoying... and a concern.
I can't tell if it's coming from the front or the rear either... just seems to be a hum that I can feel that wasn't there before the repairs where done.
Any ideas where to start?

Reason: spelling
Ok I paid a little more attention to it this morning on the way in... turns out it starts at 65 and goes AWAY around 73 or so. At least this morning it did. It happens whether or not I'm coasting or on the gas, although I do believe it's more prevalent when on the gas.
Vibrations that start in the 60s and run out in the 70s are generally tires. I'd have them balanced. You can also just rotate them.
Tires as large as are on the Excursions can easily have a harmonic to them that by themselves, don't vibrate enough for you to notice, but when in synch with another tire's harmonic can produce a detectable vibration. That's easy to detect though. Drive down the road at a speed that produces the vibration. Stay at that speed as you round a curve or two. The curve will have the tires rotating at slightly different rates so that the harmonic moves. If the vibration changes it's a harmonic. A good balancing has always cured that for me.
I'm not sure where home is for you, but being anywhere near Atlanta is no beuno in my book. We're heading up for a week's vacation in North Carolina on the beach, so we're excited.
Yeah, just weird that it didn't do it before the repairs and started as soon as it left the shop. Hopefully tonight I'll have before and after pics of going from stock 265/75 to a leveling kit with 315/75s and no vibrations on the highway
Alright... update. Got the new tires on and it did NOT fix the vibration.
Also, if someone tells you 315/75s will fit without rubbing with just a 2" leveling kit, make sure your springs are in good shape. I'd heard from multiple people it would fit without rubbing... they don't. Only thing I can imagine is that the springs are in need or replacement with v/b codes.
Do you have stock or aftermarket wheels? I'm thinking that the stock wheels on my 2000 Ex are responsible for my vibration and am seriously considering changing them.
