emblem years
went too see a part truck last evening,its same as my 42 except hood has a stamp ford emblem and mine is a bolted ford emblem? pretty rough shape guy wanted 300 dollars. no engine or transission. rear end is 5 studs and like 2 halves! what year could it be ?

The bolted on die cast emblem was a one year, 1942, only thing. After that Ford stamped the emblem into the side of the hood. From the sound of it, the truck you were looking at is a 1945-1947 one ton or larger judging from how you describe the rear end.
By the way, guard those emblems well, they are not reproduced and not easy to find
