Hi, I'm new here! I just got a 1978 F150 Ranger XLT 4X4 from my girlfriend's father. He is the original owner and the truck only has 74000 miles. I personally haven't seen to many of these old trucks with all these options on it. It has tilt, cruise, dual tanks, rear derfost, full guages, and I think a/c. Plus it has a 400M and C6 to boot! While the truck is in pretty good shape on the outside , (bed needs replaced but cab is pretty good) , I may be needing some interior parts soon. It is two tone Jade green on the outside with (I think) evergreen interior. I have a parts book from Autokrafters, but they don't have much for green interior other than a dashpad. I know I will be needing a new green seat and thought about something like the original or an aftermarket 40-20-40. Any help on restoration of this nice old Ford would be greatly appreciated!!
Congrats!!! The first thing I did when I got mine is went straight to motorhaven.com and then to www.********.com. Then Dennis Carpenter and got together all the websites and put them into a binder. I have found that carpet and interior stuff is out thier at those sites, but your everyday engine and suspension, transmission and rear end stuff is still available at any parts store and junk yards are plentiful with these trucks.
Sounds like a great truck. Some of those options you listed, like rear defrost, are hard to find. My truck is also two-tone green with green interior. I have not found much available in green for the interior. I've been thinking about replacing the carpet and dash pad with black to go a with set of black door panels I bought used. Good luck and welcome to FTE.
Thanks for all the replies guys. Hay Mil1ion, send me an email and let me know about the green interior parts. I would very much appreciate it. About the seat though, I was thinking about trying to get one for a 98 F150. I know they made green interior for them for a short time. It may not be the same color, but it would work. the rear defrost switch is mounted under the dash on the left hand side. I didn't know what it was at first. Keep em coming guys!!! Thanks again!!
