I'm in the process of getting the 6" suspension lift under my F-150 short bed.
I'm wondering what others have done about extending the e-brake cables from the backing plates up to the x-member under the bed. I'm talking about the sheath the cable is in, not the cable itself.
Are there compatable cables that will fit up? Is it as simple as using e-brake cables from a long bed? Mine clip in to the x-member fine and will probably work for street driving but as soon as I go to full drop I know they'll yank out.
While i have not had the need to replace/lengthen my ebrake cable on my truck, i have replaced one on my jeep that i recently put new axles/lift kit on. I looked into simply extending it but the process is too unreliable, it involves crimping and gluing and taping. There was a kit at napa that contained like 3 feet of cable, slices of sheath, and some type of epoxy and a special tape to wrap the sheath in. I recommend simply replacing the whole thing. I was able to find one for my application through a mail order company for jeeps. I don't know if auto parts stores sell e-brake cable in bulk, you might try some mail order catalogs like summit, i know they usually have odds and ends like that in bulk, well hope this helped!
