I recall reading various threads that mention folks getting a VIN at some point after ordering a new truck as well as the date a truck is actually built. This is neat info but how does one get it? I asked my dealer how this works when I ordered my truck and he had no idea what I was talking about - never heard of such a thing. Does this info come from the factory or the dealer.
Can anyone enlighten me as to how to get this info?
Once your truck is scheduled to be built, the dealer will be provided a VIN and build date. You can then plug that VIN in here: http://services.forddirect.fordvehic...8W3BT9CEB30702
(but substitute your VIN) to see your sticker.
Go on the diesel stop site and look under "11 and up ordering information". Search for Crystal. Send her a personal email and she will email your VIN number and follow you truck keeping you informed till it shows up at the dealer.
She was fantastic. After my dealer not having any info on my truck order for six weeks I emailed her. She found the problem was that my dealer had two trucks under the same order number. She straightened it out in a couple hours and gave me got my VIN and told me when my truck would be delivered. She even told me where it was accross the country from Kentucky to New Mexico.
Use this link to the F150 online forums. Register, then start a new thread. This guy (or gal) will give you daily updates on the progress of your build, right down to the train car that its loaded on after it leaves the factory. All you need to do is start a thread with your VIN.
