Well, one of teh things I always use is called the DING KING!! You can buy it at most any parts store or Target, Wal-MArt.... What it is a suction cup taht gets glued down on the dent. Then you put this little handle over the suction cup and you screw a nut onto the suction cups rod, then it will pop back up. It also comes with scratch remover!! All this and, it only costs $30!!!
Just putting dry-ice on teh dent won't do a thing. The trick is to first heat it up and then put the dry-ice. If it is done wrong you will end up with no paint, a bigger dent, and a huge repair bill!!!
Guess I should have expounded on that a little bit. I usually let it the vehicle sit and idle for 15-20 minutes until the engine area heats up real good. I also use a folded piece of wax paper to put the dry ice on. This keeps the ice off of the paint. The reaction will pull the dent up, similiar to cambering a trailer frame but using cold versus heat.
Its a 40 bucks a panel but you could try a paintless dent removal company. The results are unbelievable. They take out door dings and dents with out hurting your paint. The girlfreind has a brand new jetta. With in two monthes she got two nice door dings. Paintless dent removed them and it looks perfect. I am going to have a couple dents pulled from my bronco by them. They will even come to your house.
I have had good luck with "Paintless Dent Repair". These folks can do wonders. There are several of them in my area (South Texas) as we get a pretty fair amount of Hail, here too. If the hail was bad enough to make a crease, replace or body shop is best bet. "PDR" is a "fraction" of the cost of "paint & body" and it doesn't mess with the factory paint. Good Luck!
They only guarentee to make the dings "look better", not a guarentee to fix the dent like new. There is a difference between dents, dings, and hail damage. Make sure you ask if the person is trained in hail damage. The shop in Little Rock is very specific in that. Also, they quoted me a price of $635.00 to do the top and trunk of my wife's Town Car, and that did not include the price of a new headliner to access the top. PDR is a "from the inside out" technique, and will only work if the dent is not near a seam or crease. I assume your hood has creases?
The guys in my city must be better then the guys your talking about. They remove dents completly! No they can not do some creases and seams. I have had the work done and you can not tell that there was a dent where they fixed it. These guys work from the outside and the inside. I have watched them do it. There shop is right next to my friends body shop. They also do dealer ship cars that have delivery dings are damage.
To any of you guys listening ! I've been in the body shop for many a year and anybody that askes about PDR ,Isend the other direction unless there gettin rid of the vehicle. PDR looks real good to people who don't know what there lookin at. If you want the real results pull it in a garage or a well lit shop and look real close with the light on it, Ibet I could show you where there at! Iv'e seen many diffrent shops that do this PDR.(they ain't foolin me or my checkbook with that line of B.S.)my self if I couldn't afford areal body shop,or fix it my self I'd live with it. ..........as for the dry ice or heat shrink method it doesn't work either. But then again not every body looks for perfection on there vehicles body panels like a experinced bodyman does. everybody usually settles for something,so If you want some half***ed hail damage repaired done thats up to you!!! Sure hate to be the one to burst everybodys bubble
I had a buddy that worked for Dent Wizard, take out some dings in my truck. Now I'm curious as hell about my truck. But he got them out and you cannot see where they were in any light or angle. I was lucky because that ain't always the case.
