Wonder if this will be the future of highway trucking in the future. I think there is a strong possibility...given the ever upward spiraling of fuel costs.
That is a cool looking truck, but unless you are pulling a van I don't think it would help the arodynamics all that much. On the other hand even a small increase in mpg's would make the bean counters smile.
A single rear axle tractor woudn't cut it here unless you were hauling potato chips. US gross weight's are 80,000lbs, our tractor's and trailer's weigh at on average 34,500lbs with 5 axle's leaving a pay load of 45,500lbs in Canada you can load it to 52,000 lbs. Knock the GVW Down in the U.S. would cost you 17,000 lbs. Looks cool though
Cool concept. Aeroliner trucks have been tried before but there's not even a decent dock door on this newwest concept, no real way to eficiently load even light bulky items. But on good new hydrogen getting closer and closer to a reality.
Sorry for being the smartass here......
Hows this for new age thinking.... stop injecting raw diesel into exhaust?
I remember White 3000's very well...during their working days. There was a White 3000 COE Beer Truck in Winnipeg, back in the 50's, 60's...maybe a bit into the 70's. It was owned by a local brewery and was perfect for getting down narrow lanes to deliver cases and kegs of beer to pubs. That's a long service life. Last I heard this particular 3000 was in a field somewhere in North Dakota.
The 3000 was powered with the White Mustang engine, believe it was a gasser.
BTW Ford asked permission from White to use the name Mustang. The White President apparently said yes...it's ok with us if you want to name a sportscar after a truck engine.

It`s all cool since the truck engine was named after a fast wild horse.
