What's the best way to fix this?

This is my tail light. The middle wire broke -- see part circled in red.

I was thinking of soldering it together? Any thoughts?

Is this part specific to the Excursions or can I go to the junk yard and get it from other Fords? Thanks.

Called all the local parts store and none of them carry this harness.

Called the Ford dealer and the parts guys told me its discontinued.

Here's the part # of my harness: 3F2T14A464A

Can anybody please take this part number and see if it will cross reference to anything?

Here's the part number the dealer gave me:

4C7Z13A409BA

Description:
Roof Interior Wire Harness. w/rear park aid; From 14405 to rear tail lamps, and 14A504. Electrical, Lighting and Body, Body Wiring Harness and Components

Does this sound like the right harness? I could not find any pictures as a guide.

I tried to solder the connection but I could not make it to stick.

If I can not find a new harness, I guess I'm off to the junkyard. What's a good donor vehicle?

remove the old wires from the plug .. and add some wire to yht old wires and then add new connectors to slip inside the plug... al wiring that is inside the plug is all the same .. radio shack should have what you need.... it will be a tiny little blade connector that will come out after you slip a small thin blade up in the connector ... ...

Sam, I don't think you understand Tim's posts. You don't need a replacement harness, you just need to pick up a new plug and splice it onto the wires so you can plug it back together.

Yep we repin connectors almost daily on F 16's so that is very common and easy to do job.

the ends on that connector look heat sealed. doubt you can pull the pins out. hope you can

most Auto Parts stores have a rotating "Fix It" rack. These bulbs are extremely common for Ford. Check that rack and I'll bet you find a brand new connector. Cut the existing old connector off, solder on the new one

I completely understood Tim's post. I was just saying that I will try the junk yard first before I attempt to fix it.

How do u pull out the old wire? It looks like its very difficult since there' no room to stick something in there so I can pull the old wire out.

Simple fix and not worth a trip to the junkyard. They want a mint for everything, they even charge a dollar to walk into the yard in the Bay Area. Hit up a couple more parts stores for a universal piece and splice it in.

Ok. How do I safely pull out the old wires without ruining the harness? Looks like I might damage it if try it. Thanks.

We use pin extractors. Its a plastic sleeve that slides over the wire and you push it down in the hole and it releases the pin and you pull it out. The whole kit we use is called a Daniels Kit.
