OK, so I have read all the posts about having to change starters, jack up the motor etc to install headers. I have a stock 1966 F100 with the 352. Is there a set of decent headers that will truely just bolt on without any undue stress? I know it will help the motor breath better but as I have previously said, I am not a mechanic. Any suggestions are always much appreciated. I have to say, this is one of the most helpful forums I have ever been a part of!
I have Hedman Hedders on my 390. The only problem I have is when I had to change the starter but even that wasn't too bad. I just unbolted the header and moved it out of the way. Its the stock style starter by the way.
I may have access to a set if you are looking. They came off a 390 in a 69 Mustang. They were tight in the Mustang, but I am pretty sure they would fit well in a truck.
The gasketless system works great, I opted for the Aluminized Ceramic coating, and I am glad I did...cleaning involves windex, and a rag, and about 5 minutes of labor......I have had them in my truck for 2 years, no leak issues, and they still look like new. The install was a simple bolt on install, no fitment issues... just bolt on! I had to loosen the starter just a bit to allow the Socket extension to get teh back lower bolt, but that was the worst of it.

I'd suggest you also fab up a heat shield to protect / extend the life of your starter. Something like this: Moroso Starter Heat Shield - JEGS
A very simple heat shield for the starter is Dynamat, or Rattle trap fat mat.. both are heat proof, and both are self adhesive.... just a simple matter of cut to size with scissors, and then apply.
Imagine comes down to whether to install 'long tube', or 'shorty' headers. Suggest do some research in event decide to go w/ front disc upgrade in the future?
