Need quick clarification - can spark plugs be changed without removing fuel rail? (4.6L)
I keep getting conflicting answers... I need to change my spark plugs & wires - do I have to remove the fuel rail or not? I have a 4.6L (with coil packs, not COP's). Can anyone set this straight for me please?

No you do not have to remove the FR. Most people that do, have to do so to get the COP out of the way. The spark plug is smaller and will clear the FR. What you might want to do is to remove the 4 bolts that hold the FR to the intake. This will allow you to move the FR side to side a bit if you need to.

+1, removing the fuel rail is not an issue, 1/4 rachet, 8mm, shallow socket, 4 bolts wiggle up. Be sure to get some compressed air to clean all dirt from atop the injectors before wiggling out, remove your plugs passenger side closest to firewall can be a bit of a pain, stick through it, it is possible. When re-installing I use WD-40 as a lubricant as to not tear or tweak the "O" rings and everything goes right back to normal. and also, before you start it back up turn the key to the on position and look for leaks before proceeding to start the truck.
