Good morning group,
Well I finally got a round toit yesterday and replaced the stock pilot bushing with the needle bearing replacement parts. I tried a little different approach to removing the old part. I used bread to remove the bushing. It takes 1 and 1/2 slices and about 15 seconds with an old pilot shaft and a BFG. Very nice, pulled 2 bread plugs out of the end of crank, clean. Installed the bearing with a 1 1/16" socket. I think this would work on a very worn bushing by using the crust to make the consistancy heavier. Have a great day!
Ya the compresion of the bread pops them out good. I still use the tap method most of the time at the shop. Just tap the hole and run in a bolt with the air gun VVVVVVip it's out.
