'frenched' antenna, hey that's a good idea. I needed a place to mount an antenna and the will work out well.

i just cut out a piece of metal in a round pattern and welded it in. A little bondo and a few hours later, presto. Completed.
I did not want my antennae on that side, as I am prone to having a momentary loss of dexterity, and I was afraid i would sanp the thing off if I wasn't careful. Although, an electric antenna would solve that problem...hum.
OK, why not keep the filler neck, grommet, and cap,, with a short PVC tube with bootm cap (or tin can) attached, and it would be a good place to stash an extra key. Just remove the gas cap, and there it is! Make it about 8 inches long, and a basic tool roll could go in there, too.
I thought about a locking cap, but when you've locked your keys inside or lost them....(hence the need for the spare key). Also..dynamite place to carry one of those big MagLites you don't want rolling around under the seat. Use a radiator hose, and it wouldn't rattle. I'd put the locking cap on that! Also, the angle and size are about right for a rocket launcher if you're an aggressive driver!! The possibilities appear endless!
yeah, I was setting myself up for that one...lol. I didn't think it through, but store anything else in there besides a key that needs to be locked up.
