Time for new tires - 2000 V-10 4x4

The ole tires that came on my X aren't cutting it. They are 285 75 16 The wheels look fine and I am fine with the size. I will be going with an E Range tire.

On road, they are fine. Get it off into anything wet, in some cases just dew on some thick grass - no traction. They are still in good shape. I'll put them on CL.

I have had good luck with BFG All Terrains. I have had like 5-6 sets on other trucks, etc. I am debating the BFG All Terrain vs. BFG Mud Terrains.

I am leaning towards the Mud Terrains since the X is more of my hunting rig. Also, I could give them a spin and see if I would put them on my 2005 3500. I have have 3+ sets of All Terrains on there and love them.

Comments?

You know the trade offs, you need to make the decision.

The Mud Terrains are great tires but they tend to cup slightly on heavier trucks. If you don't do a lot of on road then you may be fine with them. You can rotate them a little more often - say every 3-4 instead of 6-7k miles to mitigate it a bit. Their Rugged Terrain is a great tire which can handle off-road and does really well on road. It's not as aggressive but wears well and I have quite a few customers who are using them on the beach as well as on their hunting rigs and love them.

Never had any mud tires. Discount tire has a 30 day try n buy. I figure I will know if I like them much sooner than that. Going to sleep on it, but they have the mud ones in stock.

They will price match also. Take a print out from discounttiredirect.com of the tires that you want to them. I have bought many tires from them. Always saved me money.

They matched the price. I am going to have them put on in the morning.

They aren't much louder than the ones I pulled off. At the volume I listen to my radio - I don't hear them at all.

Here are some before and after pics.

My 2005 Dodge 3500 SRW is coming due for tires. I have been running BFG All Terrains. I might put a set of these on it next.

2.5" lift

Pre lift I only had around 3/4" between axle and suspension bumper.

Now I have 4"

Man, my kids love climbing in and out.

Do you have running boards on yours?

Looks like I lost around 1 - 1.5 MPG with these tires.
