tire wheel combo

Im sure this is here somewhere but i have an 05 xlt 4x4 ex and dont want to lift it $$$. springs are a cheap route but would like to switch the wheels to 20x9 kmc rockstars and whats the biggest tire I can fit without issues?

4x4 should be able to fit 33's or 315/60/20's on there but I would break out the measuring tape to make sure. There's not a whole lot of tire options in those sizes though...

Toyo OpenCountry MT - LRE: $370/ea
Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor - LRE: $368/ea
Goodyear Wrangler SR-A - LRD: $189/ea

Then you'll only get about 1.5" lift out of it given they're 3" taller than the factory 265/75/16's but it's the radius from the axel to the ground that counts not the full diameter...

Seems like an awfully expensive way to avoid getting a proper lift for a marginal gain. If you get a proper lift you can get OEM size 18" wheels there are TONS of cheap tire options that will save you the cost of the lift after your second set of tires!
