Shop Recommendations

How do people feel about a thread dedicated to recommendations for Georgia shops to perform work on our trucks? Being relatively new to the world of old trucks, one of my biggest problems has been finding reliable shops to do work at a fair price.

I've been fortunate to have a couple of successes in this regard, so why not share? If enough people post their good experiences, we can have a database of sorts of places to go.

First, exhaust work. I needed everything aft of my catalytic converter replaced, and was having a hard time finding someone to do the work. Then I ended up with these guys:

K & C Muffler
603 Carlisle Rd.
Dawsonville GA 30534
(706) 216-3148

$165 installed, and they got me in and out quickly. Good work, too.

Now I am working on my A/C, and needed a new set of hoses made - I have dealer air, and wasn't able to find a retailer with the hoses that I need. My local NAPA turned me on to these guys:

Lumpkin Hose Repair
11470 Maxwell Rd
Alpharetta, GA 30009
(770) 664-4165

They weren't cheap ($90 for all my hoses), but the workmanship was excellent and they had same-day turnaround.

Good Idea !!!

I have not started on my truck yet and have nothing to add yet BUT I am sure that I will need the service of some type of shop one day.

C'mon guys, I know there are more shops in Georgia. I think this could be a great thread, we need to keep it going.

The only body shop that I know of (My buddys dad owns it, they do good work)
in Warner Robins is:
Randy's Collision Repair Center
616 N Davis Dr. (478) 929-9482
Warner Robins, GA

I know there is one near Atlanta:
S & J Automotive (770) 996-3698
Hwy 85 (In Front Of Walmart)
Riverdale, GA

Awesome Idea. There are many (like myself) that are not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to wrenching. A thread listing good shops that provide excellent service could come in handy. I have used the following shop, and would say they are five star rated in my book.

Hensley Automotive
4975 Friendship Rd
Buford, GA 30518

From: Athens, GA...it rocks.
I took my truck to Masters Garage here in Athens, they rebuilt the carburetor, found a few other problems, and fixed it all for dirt cheap--Gary's a good guy, on top of it all.

Masters Garage
1275 Commerce Road
Athens, GA 30607
(706) 543-6837

I'm happy with the service. They were recommended to me by my future wife's grandparents--everyone else that has used them has nothing but great reviews of Gary and his workers.

There's a great one near me. These guys are older, and much more seasoned and honest on top of that. They do any and all kinds of repair, and they also do great exhaust work.

I had my rear end rebuilt in my e1999 F250 Super Duty 7.3L PSD at Turner Automotive in the Augusta Area. I guess I will revive this thread.

I have a good retired transmission guy that works out of his house in Gainesville. Roy Brooks (678)936-1034. Also there's a diesel shop very close to me, on the Cleveland Highway in Gainesville, that always has lots of Fords in their lot.
