1969 F-600 VIN Help?
) I just purchased my first BIG Ford truck a 1969 F 600 that has been used as a hay hauler for much if not all of its life. Its a good runner (so far so good) and other than a few minor cosmetic issues looks like its going to serve me well. I have not been very successful finding any useful information about my truck and was stoked to find this site! ANY info about my truck would be most appreciated but I was most interested in getting my VIN decoded. THANK YOU!

The VIN is: F61CKE74351

The VIN is: F61CKE74351
F61 = F600 (gas).
C = 330 2V Medium Duty FT engine.
K = Kansas City MO Assembly Plant.
E74531 = 1969.
I woulda decoded this sooner, but was on vacation.
Since the VIN doesn't list much info, post all the codes found on the Warranty Plate (located on left door face below latch), I'll decode them.

While I have you on the line so to speak, I am having problems with the battery charging. I did the old farmers test of disconnecting the battery with truck running and the engine died. In previous vehicles I have owned that means the alternator needs replaced, do you think thats the case here? I ask because I know there may be a regulator that isnt part of the alternator, but I dont have an easy test to confirm that. If I do need to replace the alternator, is it possible to take one from another Ford with the same engine? We have plenty of "U-PickIt" type parts yards around and they are considerably cheaper. Thanks much for all the help
