CITGARD 700 SYN 15W-40 OIL ALRIGHT TO USE?

I have an opportunity to buy a 55 gallon drum of Citgo Citgard 700 Syn Blend 15w40 motor oil for cheap. I own a 2012 f-350 that I was thinking about using this oil for but didn't know if it was ok to do so. Did some research online and couldn't find anything much about the oil. Does anybody on here use it or know if it would be ok to use? On Citgo's website it says it is for heavy duty use and a synthetic oil designed for 2007 and newer diesel engines but I want to make sure. Couldn't find any prices for this oil because I couldn't find any online stores that sold it. Whats everyone think?

Website says 2007 and older models and is CJ-4 rated. Don't have manual handy and not sure what rating to use.

CITGO CITGARD 700 Engine Oils SAE 10W-30 and 15W-40 are synthetic blends using superior
technology to protect all low-emissions engines equipped with exhaust after-treatment systems and
other new design features. These products exceed the API CJ-4 heavy duty requirements as well as
existing API CI-4 PLUS and earlier categories.
• Synthetic blends formulated specifically for engines using Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD)
• Provides advanced soot control utilizing SootArrest™, soot dispersant chemistry
• Offers advantages for post-2007 and pre-2007 heavy duty commercial trucks and other diesel-fueled
applications, including off-road equipment
• State-of-the-art wear control technology for reduced wear
• Exceptional oxidation and thermal protection for operating at extreme temperatures
• Extends diesel particulate filter (DPF) life
• Meets manufacturers’ latest warranty requirements
• Protects against engine oil oxidation and fuel dilution, especially in fleets operating greater than
5% biodiesel fuel
• SAE 10W-30 improves fuel economy and cold cranking lubrication

Ford requirements:
- CJ-4 or CJ-4/sm required to ensure emission systems compatibility
- Preferred 10W-30
- 5W-40 or 15W-40 recommended for severe duty or biodiesel applications

What's the cost of the oil going to be? We've been paying $12/gallon delivered for conventional oil purchased in 55gallon drums. I like the sounds of this syn blend.

I am buying it from a guy who is going out of business. I don't know exactly how much oil is left but it is at least half the drum or 3/4 full. I just threw out a price of $125 for it and it looks like he is going to sell it to me for that. So at say 20 gallons left on the worst case scenario it is only costing me about $6 per gallon which is very cheap for this oil!!!! I just wanted to make sure it was ok to use in my new baby!!!!!!!!!!!

hmmm...seems like a really heavy thick oil for using in the winter. Heck...even 10w30 would be thick in the winter...IMHO. A good weight would be like 5w40...

I think the price is good as long as you have the volume left in the barrel that you think. You have identified it as a blend and not a full synthetic product which should impact the price. I wonder though if there could be any contaminants in the oil now simply because the barrel is not sealed. Has the drum been sitting around for years and slowly taking oil out of it or is it something he opened recently. If it has been sitting around has shop dust, metal shavings, all the usual air contaminants contaminated the oil? These are all the things that go through my head. If you are comfortable with the purchase and fine running the weight range in your temperature zone of operations and usage of the truck, then I would use it.
