Oil Pan Question..... Up Date

On the front of the oil pan there are what appears to be a freeze plug and a hex screw/plug. understand the freeze plug concept but on the oil pan??. And the plug is this for an element type heater.

Thx

Talked to a Service Advisor while getting my oil changed today and he went back to shop n asked about the screw in plug. They said that there is a spring n ball bearing behind that plug, "DONT TAKE IT OUT" , appears to possibly be a releif valve for the oil filter. And they are not sure about the freeze plug, they are thinking an inspection port to look into pan.

You only provided two hours for an answer.
(EDIT: I failed to read correctly; different posting dates!)

Is the plug located in the front bumper area?
If so, yes that is the engine block heater.

Never really looked at the front, now I'll have to go look tomorrow. I was thinking you might have the new metal pan.

Ok I found it on mine- I was looking all over the plastic oil pan for it. It's not on the plastic oil pan, it's all the way near the front of the motor, you can see the serpentine pulley in one of the photo's. Unfortunately I have no idea what it's there for, maybe a heater, maybe something else. Here's a couple more pictures.

Looks like it's on the aluminum upper oil pan as opposed to the composite lower oil pan. Not sure what it's for though.
