Lightbulb VA Chapter January 2012 G2G (get together)

Hello VA members and future members!

I have recently fielded some interest regarding a January get together for the VA Chapter. I think it's a wonderful idea, and we need to gather some information prior to putting anything in concrete.

Datails:
Date:
Saturday, January 28th

Time:
Noon-ish

Location:
TBD, please see the poll in this thread. Your vote is needed.

The date of Saturday the 28th was determined because it is NOT an NFL playoff weekend, so no one can use that excuse
I have created a poll within this thread and your vote is needed. Please select the location that you think best fits the needs of the Chapter as far as participation is concerned.

The location options below are just simple City locations. I will work on a specific site within the City that you all determine would be best. All of these locations would be optimal for a meeting for lunch, and would be family friendly in the sense that shopping would be very near by, as well as other activities besides just lunch. All have overnight stay options as well.

Williamsburg VA (1 hour from Tidewater. 1 hour from Richmond. 3 hours from DC. 5 hours from SWVA)

Richmond VA (2 hours from Tidewater. 2 hours from DC. 4 hours from SWVA)

Lynchburg VA (4 hours from Tidewater. 2 hours from Richmond. 3-4 hours from DC. 2-3 hours from SWVA)

Fredericksburg VA (3 hours from Tidewater. 1 hour from Richmond. 1 hour from DC. 5 hours from SWVA)

EDIT: These locations will probably be the 4 options we use for every G2G. I will rotate amongst them as we do more G2Gs in the future. It's only fair that way.

Please cast your location vote in the poll above. Please also feel free to give me any feedback by responding within this thread. If you are going to attend, regardless of location, then please let me know in this thread by giving me a head count of attendees. Example, you and a spouse is 2. You spouse and two kids is 4. That way I can have some prelim numbers when I go set the final plans.
I will be closing this thread by January 7th so that I can then put the final plans into motion.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all!

EDIT: I need to add that this is intended to be a family event. Children are welcome!!!!

I voted for Richmond as it seemed the most central.

Thanks Bill!
Richmond is an obvious choice for me. I will be in attendance regardless of which of the 4 we go with. I'm good for at least a 2 hour drive for a day trip. Thanks for the input!

HA! We might let you in Rocco!!!

Kidding of course. That's exactly the kind of feedback that I need to hear. In fact, the poll is multiple choice, did anyone pick up on that?

I won't drive my '77 to Richmond. Just don't trust it that much.

Fredricksburg would be a stretch, but I think it would probably make it. I could always just show up in the Jeep

Well, I voted Lynchburg, it's closest .... but no stranger to the others.

What kind of venue does one hold these things at I wonder?

Well the venue does hinge upon the location. Most likely a casual eatery/dining facility that supplies lunch and seating for a group of some size, and a parking lot so that we can all compare our Blue Ovals.

I voted *******'burg and Richmond. . .

Prefer Williamsburg, but have done the Richmond trip a few times and even travelled farther for meets. . .though I'd rather not

Williamsburg, I'd probably drive the red truck if I get the fuel gauge fixed. . .Richmond, probably not Just drive the white truck then. . .

Thanks for the feedback Steve. Trying to make the first meet as accessible as possible. The next few might be more tailored to specific regions in the State. Just getting my feet wet with this G2G thing. Thanks for everyones patience.

Williamsburg, I'm afraid they might keep us in Eastern State.

Ha nice Bill! There is a chance that we could all be possible candidates for an overnight stay.
