We have a 1996 geo tracker body and want to put a 1979 ford 300 engine in it. I know the curb weight of the Geo is only around 2200 lbs and that the ford 300 supposedly weighs about 560 lbs itself. Does anyone know if the suspension in my tracker will have to be modified in order to hold the bigger engine? Thanks!
What AB said. The weight will be only one problem. Fitment is most likely going to make for some radical changes in the frame and body and probably best done with the body off.
I can already hear the cutting torch howling and popping! cutting through the fire wall, the hood, motor mounts, trans mounts.... Just get your ck book out, you can make anything work. I don't mean to put down your project. I would love to see it and be involved. That thing would be like the motorcycle I saw the other day; it was a v8 with a frame around it...nothing but engine. And your car would be like that. I would love to see it and drive it. Good luck. I'm sure it would do wheelies!
