Need ID help

Just got a "new" 1951 ford f4 pickup with an inline six motor in it... the motor is not original. Has an OHV where it should be a flathead. Just trying to figure out what i do have so that i can develop a plan for my restoration. Anyone able to ID the motor and transmission for me?

Thanks!

Engine looks to be an older 223 that was used until 63/64. There could be other sizes, as I'm not real familiar with the old 6's. I know it's not a 240/300, since the manifolds and plugs/dizzy are on opposite sides.
No idea what trans it is.

It looks like a pre-1960-ish 223 according to this thread.

Did everyone else notice that the rebuilder put the valve cover on backwards - the fill cap is clear in the back instead of up front where it should be

What makes that really sad is that it was done by a "professional" shop. There is a tag hung on the block that names a shop in Fresno as the rebuilders

Ha! I didn't spot that. Having it back there would certainly make adding oil a bit of a "reach", if you know what I mean.......
