I bought the truck in July of 2009 and have been working off and on ever since. It was my daily driver while I did most of the work. I started on the mechanical side with the usual wearable parts, replaced both power steering lines, brake lines, painted some engine parts, installed a Viper alarm (this is a very big job) and then about 6 months ago, started heavy into the body work. The front fenders were replaced, rust on the rear of the cab was sandblasted and filled. The running boards were good but the mounts were completely shot. One bolt had actually rusted down to the point that it was as thick as a .5 mm pencil lead.
I finished up the body work 2 months ago and took it to a local body shop. The touched up some things I missed, fixed a dent or two and painted. 2 coats of paint sealer, 2 coats of base Jet Black, and 3 coats of clear coat.
hey hunt........that looks great. happy to see another flareside saved from the jy. i was looking at painting mines ppg hotrod flat black w/silver inlay on the body line just below the door handle. where did you get that bed cover or what brand is it. how did you fix the mounts holding up the running boards. the metal brackets on mine are rusted through and i was thinking of cutting and welding to replace the rusted out pieces then put on some bed liner or something to stop it from rusting again. 1 day i'm going to step on it to get in and its gonna snap off.

Thanks to all for the kind words.
The tonneau cover I found on craigslist. I'm not sure of the brand, might be extang. The mounts for the running boards I fabricated with perforated L-iron. Easy to cut and bolt together.
