I have a 2011 f350 dually...the milage on it sux really bad and i mean bad...I pull a 41' cyclone toyhauler...when i 1st got the truck it got 16-18 mpg hwy and 9-12 pulling...then ford did the update on it and well that effed me...now i get 13-15 hwy and 6-8 pulling...i dont have a heavy foot either...im wondering if anyone else has this problem...and i want to put 3.55 gears in it to get better mileage but im told it wont help cuz its a dually...and my other idea is to put a 5.9 cummins in it
i sure could use some help before i do one of those of just sell it and find me another dodge with a 5.9

You're not going to get better milage by dropping out of your power bands when you're pulling. You're just going to put more stress on the transmission, or pull slower in a lower gear.
Ok, I call BS on this thread. It just doesn't add up. Not the specs of the truck, but the fact that you would even mention dropping a 5.9l Cummins in it or Swapping the gears in a truck that you could have ordered with various different gearing options. Either you know nothing about you truck, mechanics, and engineering OR you are full of it. Just my .02. You didn't even mention if you had a PSD or Gas
Lets see this beast you own and the trailer you have. If you prove me wrong then more power to you.
BTW: I get between 17-22 on the Hwy, 14.5-17 in the city, and 9-15 towing on the hwy.
just post them on here. We like looking at big trailers. I'd love to see it connected to your 2011 dually truck! Especially since I've looked for these types of setups all over Google and the other Ford forums. I'd love to see how yours compaires to those.
I simply can't understand why you would event mention retrofitting a 2003-2007 5.9L Cummins into a 2011 F250 PSD 6.7 Dually to tow a 41' trailer. If you are serious....then....wow.
A. How is the 5.9 a better engine?
B. Do you really feel it had better power than you PSD? if so, how?
C. When did you get the truck, when did you get it flashed, and have you been back since to ask them what went wrong?
D. Please post a picture of the dodge you had... any mods to it?
well first off the 5.9 doesnt have all the emissions bs on it and doesnt have a **** tank on it like the 11...i dont have any pictures of my old truck anymore...wish i did tho...all im asking is how do i get the mileage back up??? i call my dealer and those guys could fix a flat tire...they said that ppl on forums are full of it and have no idea what they are talking about...but ppl on forums have trucks and drive them and know what they are talking about...i had it flashed last year and after i did that my mileage went down but i gained power...so how can you have 20% more power and hp and still get 20% more mileage...i just want it back to where it used to be...before the update if was fine
i have even called ford and they dont care all they said was they will relay my concerns on and someone will get back to me...well its been over 6 months and noone has gotten back to me
