Been working on a 76 F100 for a guy that I just did a Power steering conversion on. The problem is the engine is a serpentine belt, out of a newer truck. The fitting is a metric threaded Oring. The ones for a 95 F150 were too short, but the fittings were correct. Anyone run into this before, and have a good part number to use? I was just going to borrow NAPA's power steering book and find one that looks close.
One solution would be to take the two ends, as well as the total length you need to a hydraulic shop and have the hose made. The O'Reilly's and the Napa around here can both do it for pretty cheap I believe.
If you take the one from the '95 and just figure out how long you need it, they should be able to make a new one for you very easily.
I ran into this on my truck you. I used the pressure hose from an 81 F250. I had to VERY CAREFULLY bend the metal end of the hose to fit in place. It may seem to short but the metal end is so coiled up it can be straightened some and twisted a little to make is strech out. I'll go take a pic and be right back to post it up.
Plastic reservoir P/S pump introduced in 1978 on all FoMoCo vehicles, except Econolines and Passenger Cars with Hydro-Boost (these use the Saginaw pump).
The P/S pressure hoses used w/the plastic reservoir have a straight end with an O-Ring on it...attach to the pump with a qwik disconnect fitting.
1965/77 P/S pumps have a steel reservoir, the P/S pressure hose threads onto the pump.
if you are using the plasric res. pump you can unscrew the outlet fitting from the side of the pump and put in a earlier fitting then use a hose from a 78-79 truck that came with the plastic res. pump. thats what I did with my 72.
