I have a 1999 Ford F250 super duty 4wheel drive, lifted(really a leveling kit but had to lift rear to compensate), 5.4l. Im having a problem with my front shaft turning while in 2 wheel drive. Hubs aren't locked and its in 2 wheel not 4. I've taken hubs off and the bearing spins free soo I know its in auto. Why is the drive shaft still turning???????
I forgot to add, yesterday i was toying w it and it did not turn while pulling out of driveway up street and back down to my driveway. But this morning it moved after I reached 40+mph. I noticed it had moved when I arrived at the gas station.
If you are saying your front shaft has turned a little bit, then that is normal. There is enough friction in the hub bearings to make it turn slightly. If you have confirmed that your hubs are free spinning, then you have nothing to worry about.
I have a 2000 f250 super duty. Apparently four wheel drive is engaged but hubs and selector switch show its in two wheel drive . Caused front drive shaft to break at rear u joints on front shaft st transfer case. Drive shaft is removed but front axle is still engaged in four wheel drive. If your driveshaft broke, that means the transfer case is locked in 4WD. You might also have locking hub problems, but hubs being locked in won't break a driveline. Since it appears that both hubs and TC are locked, maybe you should start with checking the electrical system.
