86 Ranger, To-Do List before end of Summer
2.3L 4cyl, 5speed trans. Extended Cab.
I don't plan on swapping to a V8 anytime soon. Motor has 250K+, so if it goes out I'd find another one or if I had no luck (I constantly run into the V6 trucks out here and V8 Mustangs) then I'd go V8. Read bad stuff about the V6s, but who knows.
My plans for now are to swap in a 90s roller-cam setup and exhaust manifold. The hard part is tracking this stuff down used out here cause everything is either V6 or V8. If it gets down to the wire I'll get it online.
My main complaint about the Ranger is that it doesn't even feel as powerful as it is (I've pulled cars around with this thing easily). I'm so used to the 4.9 and to hop in the Ranger I'm almost bored haha. So just something to spice it up.
Has anyone relocated the IAC off the airbox so I can think about the possibility of a cone filter?
