Are there any lift springs for 03-up Expys?

With coilovers obviously. I know about the 3/2 spacer lift and I will be doing that. Looking to see if anyone makes a mild 1-1.5" lift spring for these trucks that can work in conjunction with the spacers to give a 4-5" total lift before bigger tires. I know that too much lift will bind up the axles but a little bit should still be safe.

If nobody makes them I guess I can do some research on how much lift is safe and get something custom wound but I'm hoping there is a place that makes them. Seems there would be a market for them.

Thanks

I wouldn't think you could go much more than the spacers allow without causing suspension issues as well as axle bind. I would thinkg that would put the lower control arm at an angle outside its working range.

How big of tires do you wanna run?

You don't need custom wound springs. If you really want to stack 2 lift products, install the Truxx strut spacer and either the Daystar spring spacer or the Rancho Quicklift struts. The Truxx/Daystar would be the cheapest combo.

Take warning though. The truck may look good jacked up, but you will get zero life out of the axle joints. There is no way they are designed to operate at that much of an angle.

So basically just run the Truxx kit and the biggest tires that fit under there and that is all there is unless you go all out and get the RIZE kit right? I am not about to go that extreme and if I did want something that crazy I would have got a G1 Expy or an X.

The Truxx kit is definitely the easiest to install and won't limit suspension travel. I think the Daystar kit is cheaper, but will limit suspension droop because it's just moving the working range of the strut to a more extended position.

Of course, there's pros and cons to the change in suspension travel. The limited droop with the Daystar means you won't put the axle joints passed their max operation angle (pro), but it also means in an off-road condition you'll be more prone to lift a wheel and lose traction because the strut can't extend any further (con).

As for the Rize kit...I'll four-link a set of solid axles under the truck before I put that kind of money into an IFS/IRS.

Truxx kit it is, I never did think about doing the 4 link solid axle conversion but if I was to go through all that trouble I'd just sell the Expy and look for a well maintained Excursion. I got the Expy to take advantage of the comfortable ride and the great handling for a vehicle of its size though. IIRC, I can run 35" tires with just the Truxx lift which should be plenty big for what I want, I just want to avoid having the huge fat tires that stick out from the fenderwells. I don't like the way that looks...

Heh, I have buyers remorse a lot when I see a nice X but then I realize that the only one I would really really want is the 05 Eddie with the 6.0L or a super cheap beat up 7.3 limited as a project haha. Nice 05 EB is upper 20s... not what I want to spend right now. 7.3L project or even a 08 swap is more likely than dropping 30 grand on a 2005 with a motor that may or may not give me fits.

I think just about any 6.0 is gonna give you fits until you rebuild it the right way. I'm thinking about selling my X after 11 years of Great service so it's hard thinking about going down to a 1/2 ton truck after owning a 'big" one for so long so I'm also trying to find my lift options (mild lift) but I'm looking at buying new and there aren't many options for lift or performance as of yet.

Good luck with your project dude.
