Has anyone removed their roof rack system and left it off?

Years ago, we had a Chrysler T&C and when I repainted the roof and hood, just left the roof rack off. Put stainless cap screws in the threaded holes.

Thinking about doing the same to my 03 Navigator.

Has anyone removed thiers? Have any pix.

The reason for its removal - to reduce some of the family truckster look...

I still have the side rails that actually attach to the roof but when I got it from the stealership used it did not come with the actual rack pieces. I sort of like the look better and am debating on pulling off the side rails too. I still don't get any better gas mileage than my co-worker with the same year/drivetrain as me and the roof rack on though so other than cosmetic there is really no benefit to it. I've used a roof rack once in my life and it was a pain. Was debating on getting another rack bin because I need even more space sometimes for storage when I've got my 3 Mastiffs in the truck with me and the fam but I'm just going to get a hitch tray and go that route.

Pic. Not a Navi but you get the idea. I almost bought a Navi actually...
