Hi guys. I live in Gainesville Fl. Just wanted to share my truck with you all. I bought her about 5 years ago with the intention of doing a conversion where the tank once was. The kitchen was finished about 3 years ago and it is a mini ice cream parlour. I have some pics of the construction of the kitchen that I will share if there is an interest. I am in the process of repainting the exterior of the truck. I will share pics of that process as well. We took her to bare metal. Wow, what a job it has been. These pics are of the truck with the old paint job and me serving alone.
Its to bad that more small business's can't learn to use older equipment. Would save companies the over head, and in your case even adds a nostalgic, memorable quality to product.
Would help keep all the old iron in good homes, and out of the recycle yard chipper headed for China.
Very classy old truck.
I would definitely buy my ice cream from the guys with the old c series ice cream machine..
Thank you guys for all the nice comments. I agree with rummur s.c. About the nostalgia factor. I've been serving out of it for about 4 years. Just got serious about the exterior this year when I started attending cars shows. I figure I can't afford a hot rod yet so I will make this my hot rod till I can
And ms-Michelle it is a great and fun marketing tool.
nice work thats alot better than stripping the fire body off and turning it into a dump truck or a flat bed. That seems to be fate of alot of fire engines around here.
One of the guys I work with hs been after me to sell him my 56 so he can rob the cab off it for his dump truck. He dosnt understand why I enjoy driving a fire engine over having some cash in my pocket, once this old stuff is gone its gone for ever. Your rig preserves the old fire engine and incorperates a new use that dosent detract from the truck. Nice work, and I'd like to see some pics of the kitchen I'll bet some real thought had to go in to that to make everything fit and function well.
People ask me all the time, why I did that to a firetruck? I saw a really cool truck and my brain just saw the end result. I love it and it is so fun. Although people ask a lot of questions the general opinion is very posative. Wait till you see the final product. It is beautiful so far. (at least I think so) I want to do a progression post . Where on the site don you think that would be most appropriate ?
What a great idea. I would love to see how you set it up. My first question is how do you get in.
Thank you. I just climb in through the back serving window. The set up may be better explained in a series of pictures. The build out did present some serious challenges. The first one was the height issue. We cannot stand on the frame while we serve. I am actulally standing on the floor of the tool box.
