I have 2 water pump bolts that are severly stuck. The head has broken off them. I have managed to pull the water pump off and now have 2 "studs" that are refusing to come out. Have been soaking with Kroil, no help so far. They are the 2 studs that are the furtherest left and right.
How do I get them loose / out? Will I need to remove the timing chain cover to get them drilled out? Do they go all the way to the block? Will the cover come off straight out over the bolts?
This is on a 5.8L engine.

I think you'll probably have to pull the timing cover off. It will pull straight off over the studs. I've also seen the bolts seize up into the timing cover and the cover had to be destroyed to get it off
Hopefully yours isnt like that.
Once you have the cover off you will be able to get at the bolts easily. You may have to gently heat up the area around the studs to get them out.
Guys in the Garage and workshop forum have great tips on this stuff all the time. Check with them for some suggestions. If it is the ones in the water jackets, after you remove the timing housing you might be able to squirt some stuff through the water passage dirrectly on the threads, which might help. Remember to work it back and forth a bit at a time.

Ended up that I ground a slot in the timing cover over each stuck bolt and squirted penetrating oil in near full length of the timing cover. one took a little additional heat. Also drilled a drain hole from the bolt hole to the outside, since now open to elements. Also filled slot with grease trying to keep water out. Should last a while.
