Ripped off tailgate bumper....twice
Anybody have a solution to my problem? I have ripped off that plastic bumper on the tailgate that covers the end twice now. Both times tore off all the mounting tabs. The replacement is $40, so I can't continue this too long. We have had the same problem on all our F-150's, and the solution was either drill and bolt the piece down (jiggy riggin') or just leaving it off. I'm looking to stay away from either option here.

We're talking about adding steel plates or something along those lines..... I don't think gorilla glue will work.

I wonder if the 08 and up tailgates have weaker mounting tabs, my dads 08 his was almost coming off. When I bought my 03 F350 in 05 my tailgate cap was so mangled there was no reason for it to be staying on yet I still had to work it pretty good to get it off and the cap I've had on for 4 years or so now hasn't even hinted at coming off.
