Rpm messed up

Rpm messed up
Alright guys, I orriginaly had a 351 in my truck and the guy before me put a 302, my rpm gauge is all sorts of messed up. How do I fix it?

What do you mean by "messed up"? You're going to have to provide more info to get any worthwhile responses.

It says I'm Idleing at 300 rpm and the max rpm rev is 1500

Well the tach gets its signal from the neg side of the coil , i would look there first....Lew

Factory Im just wondering if the motor change caused it and how I can fix it

The factory tach should work fine with the 5.8 or the 5.0. My guess is that the tach gauge is getting a weak signal from a bad connection or is dirty.
