I'm in the process of looking for a v8 motor to put in my dads 63 F100. I came across a guy that has a 1983 ford Conversion van that he wants $500 for. The van has a 302 sbf that sounds strong but could use a tuneup, an AOD transmission and a 9" rearend.
Does this sound like a good deal? I dont really know what used Ford parts run, but it seems like a bargain.
The van is in pretty decent shape too, but id probably just end up cutting it up and selling the steel.
I would definitely consider using the seats if they are nice. I like the swap, should be really nice and fuel effiecient too as most conversion vans were meant for highway speeds. With a 302 I am guessing that the van did not do any heavy pulling either. What year is the van? I would probably get it for the parts.
Other great thing with the 302 are the after market upgrades available for them...
it is a motor you can do so much with to improve performance. I have one in my '66
and it's funny, with it's size, there's room, I actually stand in the engine compartment
a lot of times while working on the motor...(not running of course).
