Well at least going through the CCV Seperator reroute led me to find a harness being held up by a "rubber band"
You can't see it real well, but the picture below shows a rubber band that was put over the steering shaft and then up by the pump which held a harness in place. After closer examination I found the harness had a holding tab that was not locked down. I found the nearby bolt, got a locking 3/8 nut, put the clamp over the bolt and locked it down. Then I pulled the rubber band until it snapped (you know its going to sting, but you end up pulling them anyway).
This led me to look for other harness issues. I found lots of loose tape and some other odd harness situations. One harness had unprotected wires sticking out into the front wheel well on drivers side. It's late but this weekend I going over the engine bay a little closer.
I'll have to take a look on mine to see if mine was done the same way. Seems kind of crappy on an expensive truck. I wonder if this is done for a reason.
I have noticed that the wiring is a little sloppy on the truck. When running a wire for my amplifier, under the driver side molding piece that covers a big mess of wires that goes down the drivers side edge of the car, I found a bundle of wires that were pinched between the body of the truck and the plastic piece (that says Super Duty). They were pinched pretty bad, one actually has some bare wire exposed (which I wound with electrical tape).
I have had a bunch of fords in my life and don't really remember if this kind of stuff was ever an issue.
I was surprised to see that all the wires that run down that side of the truck aren wrapped. They are just wires sitting between the floor and the carpet.
I guess nothing to worry about until it causes an issue but a little hard to look at.
