what kind of shocks do you think would do me best

I got a 94 Ranger 4x4, and i want some shocks that can handle my truck being jumped and thrashed on, its got no lift just 31 tires, i use to have Gabriel maxx control and those were really nice and could really take a hit, but thinking about something a little better, i was looking at some Bilstein, KYB monomaxx or the Maxx control, my price range is $60-$100 tops, and can i get away with just getting some good fronts, my back shocks are fine

I have always found if you take a wire and wrap one end around the ignition coil and the other around a seat coil, one will get the best shocks available!

Sorry Dutter, I don't know anything about shocks, I always get what the book calls for and in the middle price.

I did a search on this site when I was shopping for shocks and Bilstein's got good reviews from a lot of memebers so I went with those. I'm very happy with them.

Read, understand and follow the owner's manual for proper operation of your truck. It's not a toy, it's a tool to get from point A to point B, so you don't have to walk there like people did a hundred years ago.

Bilsteins are IHMO the best, and KYB would be second. I learns a long time ago to stay away from anything made by Monroe, they have always let me down.

How does that post help? He wants shock recommendations not a sermon from the almighty owners manual. I would rather get opinions from people with experience with different shocks. Instead of just letting the dealership parts guy give me stock stuff.

My comment was not addressed to you. How does your hijack of this thread help? Please comment to the OP. I have my opinion on how Ford trucks should be operated. The OP is suggesting operation outside proper use.

I would say just replace the front shocks now and replace the back when they need it. There are businesses online where you can get a better price for Bilstein's than buying them over the counter. I got mine at allshocks.com

How about YOU not hijacking the thread Reverend g_k50?

Now for the shock recommendation; I would put Bilstien 5100 series on the front. (Huge difference between the HDs and the 5100s)
And if there's no lift you might want to lift the front about 2" (spacers or washers) to gain a little travel.
Of course then your rear will be swapping all over the place and you'll be motivated to save up and do the rear shocks correctly.

If its a lifted truck, I would put Rancho shocks as highly recommended.
