Bought a used 99 Eddie Expy, passenger-side signal mirror has problems: signal doesn't work, and right/left axis movement doesn't work (up/down axis works, though.) Figured I'd order replacement -- though expensive -- and that's that.
My signal mirrors have three rows of blinking lights; Ford tells me, however, that the original replacement part (with three rows of lights) is no longer available, and the only OEM replacement is a mirror with a single row of blinking lights. I do not want two different looking mirrors on my vehicle, so I'm struggling for other options.
Anyone dealt with this? Am I forced to look for wrecked Expy parts to get the exact replacement piece? Also, is the fact that my lights and right/left movement are not working indicative of a part failure, or could it just be a bad connection somewhere (which would be great, meaning the part's still good)... Thanks for any input....
Those mirrors are expensive. Approx $300.00 each. It probably would not hurt to take the door panel off and check out the connections. There is a pigtail connection in the door that very possibly may be loose. You may spin your wheels looking in a junk yard. If you are in no hurry, then you may come up with one but if it is a wreck it is possible that the mirror could be damaged also. Good luck.
