Bleeding Brakes

After my '99 F-150 4x4 blew three brake lines in the course of 24 hours I decided to replace them all. Now that they are all on I need to bleed the system,, is there anything special that needs to be done. I read somewhere on this forum that someone had to take theirs to the dealer so it could be hooked to a computer to cycle the ABS, I really dont want to do that so any and all information will be appreciated.

Just bleed them like anything else. If it was my 99 I would flush the system while I was at it if it has'nt been done

I've done mine a couple times, convetional two man and vac. Pay for a flush, got mine done at work, at this age it's worth clearing them out.

how i bleed/flush brakes at my shop is
1. take a piece of vacuum line that fits the bleeder tight and slip it over the bleeder
2. open up the bleeder
3. put the end of the line in a dish (the end needs to be submersed in fluid)
4. make certain the reservoir has plenty and then pump at a moderate speed, checking the reservoir every 10 pumps.
5. for bleeding just go until bubbles don't form out the end and flushing go until it looks clean.

this works extremely well, is a one man job, but uses alot of brake fluid which is good when flushing them. for all 4 wheels with a flush you will need probably 1qt i would have 2 on hand. also i use a siphon gun to get as much nasty fluid out of the reservoir before i start, orielly and harbor freight carry them for cheap.

good luck

Kind of hard to see when you are pumping the brakes, huh?
