Hey guys with this new mobile forum I can't search for turbo removal on my 97 psd. Do I need to remove the pedestal or not??? I'm stuck like chuck with a new turbo wanting to go in but gotta make room lol
It is a whole lot easier to remove the turbo with the pedistal, then to try and seperate it on the engine. Not to mention, its a good excuse to change out the o-rings! LOL!
Two bolts on the front easy. Two on the back a pain in the butt. The passenger side bolt is easy to get to with a 10mm gear wrench. A short 10 mm 1/4" drive socket. And a swivel with an extension. Be patient. Bottom nuts on the flange are 15 mm. Top bolts are 1/2". Take the downpipe loose and pull the turbo off.
Well it's all done and back in, I removed my muffler from my 4" exhaust so now it's a straight pipe and ran with the smaller housing from the SD trucks and my egt's get no higher than 1100 some times 1200 if I am in it for a long time say up to 80 mph... I also gutted my EBPV valve so all in all I am very happy and I can once again power brake my truck and actually make the tires spin lmao...... Thats with no chip and 294k on the injectors lol and HPOP can't wait for the new stage 1's and the 17* HPOP...
