460 gauges
I've got several questions.
1) First when you put the E-4OD trans in any gear you hear a clunk is this normal?
2) Also are the fuel injectors normally noisy.
The tranny had been replaced sevral times because of my grandfather trying to back up a heavy trailer up a steep hill. He was not moving but had the RPM up to 3000 . I had researched this and this is called power braking . what eventually happend is that the got so hot it leaked and started some grass on fire no biggy.
Another one
3) How hard would it be to install a water temp, and a oil pressure gauge
Some injectors can be quite noisy, some almost as noisy as a bad tappet, this is normal and should be of no concern as long as things are running OK.
It would not be too hard to install a water temp and oil guage. If your truck already has guages there should be no need though. If the factory guages are working good use them, if you have dummy light by all means instal guages. However I think it is foolish to have aftermarket guages roached into a nice dash when the factory guages work just fine.
Your tranny slippage was probably due to internal clutch slippage, which of course tends to fry trannies up fast.
down as well as twisting it back & forth.
Piled up needle bearings inside can hold U-joint
tight & seem O.K.,but be clunking under load.
Watch yoke on differential during twisting test as
well. Could be spider gears or pin inside diff.
Both are usually cheap & easy, if caught early.
Simplest gauges to install are probably mechanical
type.(fitting screws into block, small hose runs to
gauge.) Run fittin thru cab first-requires larger hole than electric. Electric usually have three or
four wires.#1 power source.#2 to sending unit.
#3 ground.#4 gauge light connects to dash lites.
While you're at it install a trans temperature
gauge. vital to know if it is slipping(overheating).
Install gromet to protect wire or hose thru cab.
