what fluid to use in a 1977 208 trans case?

Question what fluid to use in a 1977 208 trans case?

Hi i have a 77 f150 with a 208 t case i want to change the fluid in it but i don't know what to refill it with the dealer don't know some say gear lube some say reg trans fluid , i have no clue help me please , also want to change my c6 auto trans to a 4 speed what trans would be best for the truck? Thanks Shane

Verify that you indeed have a 208, I believe it should be a 203 or 205.

208 will be aluminum case.

I will do that , the trans guy that is working on it said it was a 208 never said anything about a aluminum t case but he also doesn't know what fluid goes in it either lol, Thanks for the info , be back soon

You WILL WANT to verify this however I believe.....

203 = 30w
205 = 75/90
208 = ATF
