I started having the dreaded brake pedal pulse indicative of brake rotor warpage with about 40k on my '98. As I expected, the dealer says I need new front rotors. This seems a bit early for rotors to be shot - I thought I might be able to have them turned. I have only had the truck since 38k so the previous owner may have abused the brakes (the truck has a tow package with an electric brake controller).
Has anyone had experience with early front brake rotor warpage?
Also, how involved is the rotor replacement procedure? I don't mind doing it if I don't have to take the hubs apart.
Finally, is the brake controller part of the tow package? It looks like an aftermarket unit.
that is about when i had the front rotors turned. it took the shop over 45 minutes to remove the rotors. they rust on like they are welded. the brake controller is an add on unit. suggest you have a shop do the rotors.
