Hi all, I have a 2001 F-250 SD with the ESOF PLUS these axels have the crappy wheel bearings. My question is......since these new SD axels are just straight versions of the older Dana 50 TTB would the outer hub, spindle, lockouts, rotors, hubs(with the good style bearings work on these axels? If you changed everything from the spindle out Just a thought as i'm not comfortable with the way my hubs seem to unlock...or not unlock at times. Thanks all.

Quick answer, no, the parts are not interchangable. The old TTB arms are quite a bit different where the spindle mounts to them.

About the only option out there is a $2500 conversion kit from Dynatrac to convert the unit bearing ends to a traditional spindle and bearings that can be serviced. The unit bearing is one of the few things I dis-like about the new solid axles.

Before I did $2500 for something like that, for the about same money you could go get a complete Pro Rock Dana 60 and bolt it up.

Exclamation dana 50

I don't know about all that, the Pro Rock 60 housing alone costs like $1000.
The SD combo for the SD is almost $3000.

Complete front axles from Dynatrac are expensive. I think I've seen them go for $5000+

Just as I suspected, nuttin good in life is cheap I called Dynatrac about their bearing conversion and your right, it's about $2500 bucks.. ouch!! I also inquired about just the bearing parts but was told that those will only work in their hubs/spindles and that you also had to use their steering conversion to use that. Must be the bearing conversion parts alone they would'nt be able to soak you so much on $$$$$$$$$$$ so they bundle it with the other parts. That really suks. Just my .02 worth. I guess i'll just keep my eyes open for a Dana 60 to retrofit when these bearings go out. Thanks all for your inputs.

Good Luck! Those Dana 60's are like gold. But still a cheaper alternative to the rest!
