I'm trying to install a new & modern stereo (it even has a remote that I don't need) anyways, the dunderhead I bought the truck from had cut the stereo connecter clean off. all I have is a cluster***k of wires in the hole where the radio will go.
Does anyone know where to find an ACCURATE wiring diagram for an '87 Bronco stereo connector. or be able to decode the cluster of copper I now have? My Haynes manual was no help, and after 3 hours with google, I still have no answers that match
In no particular order my wires are;
Solid Red-
Yellow w/ Black stripe-
Lt. Green-
Lt. Blue w/ Red-
White w/ Lt. Green-
Black w/ White-
Orange w/ Black-
Orange w/ Yellow-
Black w/ White - (not a typo, there are 2 like that)
Dk Green w/ Orange-
Pink w/ Lt. Blue-
Pink w/ Yellow-
Dk Blue w/ Orange-
All of those wires seem to come from the same cluster, I'm not ready to dive into the lamp cords I found in there, but they come from the other side.
Any help you guys have would be music to my ears.

I just put in a new stereo too. I did a search on this forum first for info and found a link to Install Doctor - installdr.com. The document #356037 is for 92-95 they might have one for your '87. On page 6 is a wire chart with the factory wire colors and matching after market colors. 2 - black/white stripe is correct - negative for R&L front speakers. It would be nice to replace the facotry connectors if you can find them as mentioned above. Mine still had the connectors so it was easy.
Also, I would recomend new speakers - the factory ones are marginal.
Thanks Guys. I found a list of wire colors on here that was pretty close, but not exact. I could match up one of the two wires for each rear speaker, then with a AA battery was able to find the other one. I know I have my polarity correct in the rear. As for the front; good luck! None of the remaining wires worked, and the color chart was way off. No big deal I'm gonna get new speakers and just run new wires to the front while I'm in there anyways. But the truck makes music now, and that's what I set out to do last night. Thanks again guys.
