Upgrading Factory Head Unit
My wife gave me a new Alpine head unit [cda-7893] for Valentines day! I have been hearing about an external amp that is conected to my factory head unit, a 6 disc changer. I have never been able to find the amp, or been able to find out if it's really there. I need to know if it exists, and how to bypass it, as I will soon be upgrading the speakers as well. The truck is a 2001 Ranger, XLT, 4.0, 4x4, 4 door cab, offroad. Any info would be GREATLY appreciated!

Upgrading Factory Head Unit
Usually an external amplifier is located either under the passender seat, or in the passneger footwell/glovebox area. If you are planning on upgrading your factory speakers and using the current wiring, you will have to locate this unit and disconnect the speaker wires from it.
