well i finally got the pics up from this years success. i shot a spike at 200 yards. and a non typical 4x6 whitetail deer. my dad shot a nice little buck and my brother shot a spike deer a few hours before i shot mine. he also shot a nice bull a 5x5 i think.

also i shouldmention i shot my elk while i still had my right hand and left ankle in casts from my motorcycle accident

Very nice critters. Congratulations to all. I'm hoping to get back into the woods one of these years. I've been away too long.

Thanks Craig. FYI I talked with my dad and he said it is fine with him if you come up and pluck some turkeys as long as they are in season still

That is great news, Micah. Thank you. Spring Turkey Season is still on after my semester ends, so we'll have to talk a bit between now and May 1st. If your Dad wants to talk with me before I come up, you can give him my phone number. If I don't recognize the incoming phone number, I usually let it go to voice mail. If he leaves a message, I'll call him back as soon as I can. I have classes every day, Monday - Friday, this semester, so my voice-message box is getting a good workout.

I'll need to research which unit Athol is in for the Fall Turkey Season. If the Special Unit Tags are available for his area, I wouldn't mind coming back up during the fall, too, if I can work it around my study schedule.

Would the turkey hunting be on his property? Or somewhere else? Will you and your Dad be joining in on the fun?

On his property. And we are unit three as far as I know lol. And I will join in but most likely he will be a crossed the country. May is the beginning of his busy season for work.

Sounds great. I was looking at the IDFG Hunt Planner and, depending where in Athol his place is, he's either solidly in Unit 2, or on the border of Unit 2 and Unit 3. Since we'd be hunting on his property, once I have his physical address, I can confirm the GMU with IDFG.

Looks like US-95 & ID-54 are the borders of between Unit 2 and Unit 3. Everything west of US-95 and north of ID-54 is Unit 2. I zoomed in close enough to see that ID-54 is also Watkins Ave. Athol is in the heart of the "Special Unit Tag" area. Residents of Athol can purchase tags and take up to six turkeys per year.

I think I know where I want to retire. I just have to convince Susi to retire there with me.

Unit 3 is east of US-95 & south of ID-54. Talk to you later. It's past my bedtime.
