I just pulled the complete working set up off a truck. The steering box, lines, the valve/drag link and the ram or cylinder with the mounting brackets. Everything somebody would need to put it on a truck.
well id be more then happy to sell it to you but my problem is i dont know what its worth. I guess make me an offer and then we can go from there. Im in west middlesex,pa 16159 so we'd have to figure out a shipping price to then but i could most likely get a good deal on that from where i work. so throw me an offer......
I'd be interested as well. Considering the control valve is $300ish reman'd and the power cylinder is $250 reman'd, it can get pricey trying to replace the system. However, I don't see there being a huge market for those units, considering the ease of a 78/9 steering swap, and because the used system is still 30+ years old, so who knows what you're getting or how long it will last. So there's really not huge demand for the stuff, unless you're like me and either prefer originality or also like me, can only afford to limp along and keep buying used every few years.
Anyway, is this the Bendix or the Garrison system? I've only ever bought the Bendix system used before, and depending on condition, I've paid anywhere from $50 to $100 from control valve to power cylinder and everything in between. So I'd be willing to offer somewhere in that range...and my shipping is to 28146. Shoot me a PM so we can work out details if you're interested, so we can keep 'classifieds' out of the forum. I tried PMing you, but I don't see that it's set up.
I would gladly pay $100 plus a fair price for shipping, rather it's Bendix or Garrison, I garren Damn tee that the power assist steering setup will handle and perform far superior to a standard 78-79 power steering setup if you are running tires over 35 inches. I have had plenty of experience with both the power assist set up and the 78-79 powering steering setup and I absolutely preferr the power Assist. Here in Wyoming where I live any part of the original power Assist fetches a premium, all the ranchers and guys who work there rigs like I do are in the know, and know what stands the test of time. If the power assist was more user friendly, EVERYONE Running a 3/4 ton Dent would have them, I don't mind fiddling with it time to time in exchange for the performance advantage over regular power steering.
1976 highboy--let me see about the shipping tomarrow and ill let you know a price--but id say with shipping maybe $150 or $200 total. not sure but will let you know. asap
