Got a lil bit of an issue going on. The past few days, i have been working nights and getting off @0700 temps have been in the mid 40s. When i put the truck into gear to pull out, i notice what feels like the clutches slipping. Its only been doing this for a few days.
Well this afternoon i got into the truck and put it in R to back out typically i dont have to press the acc. This time it was very hesitant so i pressed the acc. and i could feel the motor picking up RPMs but no go. then it caught and slung gravels all over the driveway. So i continued driving it to try and diagnose the problem. I got about 2 miles from the house, glanced down and my O/D light was flashing. Pulled into where i was going and parked it. Went back out about 2 hours later and started it. No O/D light flashing, and the other symptoms were gone also! I changed tunes and everything seemed to be working fine, except I have the automatic down shift on my 130R tune and it is not down shifting when i remove my foot from the peddle now. Transmission was rebuilt 18 months ago. Transgo tugger kit, and triple disc TC installed. Any suggestions or things to look for. I checked the fluid last week and it was full, and clean.
When my Over Drive light was flashing happened when my Torque Convertor locked up and threw a code...... I could not get it to stop because I never was able to get the TC 'unlocked'..... ended up frying the trans and breaking the center shaft in the trans.
We just puuled the codes and the only one from the tranny is 0741.
It is Torque converter perfrmance / stuck off.
I am sitting here with pretty Ray and want to know what you guys think.. Please respond before he burns it to the ground in my driveway. LOL
Neal,
If you are using AE or a data-logging scanner there are some things you can look at as far as tranny and torque converter. Go for a short drive while logging. "Torque converter slippage actual" is one thing that comes to mind. Just run through the data meter options for what look like tranny or TC monitoring data. Too bad you have a hanshaker or you could do some stare and compare between trucks.
I am back at the house now, the only thing that really concerns me is i dont want another cooked tranny! I am just now getting the last one paid for!!
I am going to call the guy that rebuilt it for me tomorrow and see what he thinks the problem is, I may end up having to take it back up there. I dont know a whole lot about tranmissions, except i already have one cooked one in my resume` and i dont want another one!!
I have had the flashing O/D light coupled with no speedometer and it was the sensor in the rear that was dirty. Took it out cleaned it, hasn't happened again. This was 2 years ago.
Huck, thats a good idea, you come on over and get started on it while i am at work, ill be home later to help finish it!
*Update* I talked to the guy that built the tranny for me, and he thinks it could possibly be some kind of TC solenoid??? Which somebody please correct me if i am wrong, on my 120R tune does the TC lock happen when i let off the acc.?
*Not meant to throw stones at anyone just curious if that could cause unnecessary wear on a TC solenoid.*

The code that you pulled was the same code I had when my OD light was flashing. My TC was locked in all of the time and Brian from BTS said that it was the the TC solenoid that was the problem. I had the same issue as you discribed when you back up that one time.... My TC was locked in backing up and I broke the center shaft in the tranny. I had a BTS warrenty so Brian overhauled the whole transmission for me. My suggestion would be to get the TC solenoid issue checked out before you do any serious damage to your tranny.
