Hey Ontario Farmer, Popa John here where abouts in Listowl are you? I'm over here in Cranbrook. Been lurking around the FTE forums for awhile now, learnt a LOT about the 351M/400s. Got one on the go now and I am looking for 400- 430 HP. E-mail is popajon@tnt21.com
Merry Xmas to one and all, I'M a newbie here at FTE ONtARIO Chapter. As I've said I have been lurking here at FTE for awhile. My project is a 1977 F-150 2wd XLT, my Dad bought it new in '77 wrote it off in '78 it sat for a few years I bought it wife wrote it off I fixed her and now For the last 20 or so years have been rebuilding it, In order to keep this entry short i"m open to any and all inquiries as to what I'M doing to her
Sounds like a good project, popajon. Father of a friend has a 77 F150 that he's owned since new, was restored a few years ago. Not really a show truck, but a nice driver.
What all options besides the XLT does your truck have?
Hey loudfords, no other options just the XLT, it was a tu-tone dark Green/white panels race track trim. After the Wife wrote it off I kind of went a little bananas on it. Went total Show Truck. Only has 36,000 kms. Redone interior Diamond tufft crushed red velvet, REAL walnut door panels ( hand made my self) Diamond head liner, interior of the box is done the same colour and walnut panels the length of the box, 2 Frenched areials, shaved door handles and topped off with Candy Brandy Wine paint ( House Of Kolor) took two firsts and 1 second in the shows i was at. Then she sat for 20 years hence the total rebuild. The engine was a 351M now it's a 408 flat top pistons ( Tim Meyers) edelbrock performer 650 holley Davis plug and play ignition headers 2 1/2 " exhaust. Heads have had the " smog" bumps taken out. Full roller rockers, roller cam etc. should be a stout motor. Sorry this is getting TOOO long so I'LL let go now.
I have rather an unusual setup I'm putting on. At present I'm running a Holley 500 2BBL. When I cut chop rebuild Putting an edelbrock aluminum highrise 2BBL. with headers and a set of Mangna Flows.
Was Wondering what sort of cam you would think would go with that my truck is a 4x4 so i would be looking for something with some bottom.
I've got LOTS of pics. Only problem is haven't figured out how to post them as they are not on a digital camera, and the truck is a million pieces. Again!! I will, however try the obvious and sweet talk the old girl into helping me with the problem. Will post some pic asap.
That set up sounds interesting. What intake are you planning on, the Performer or something else? I need to now what mods you have done before I would attempt to suggest a cam , like compression ratio, overbore etc.
Yep,that truck has been thru a lot. I've had her for 30 years so there is a HUGE attachment. The only other thing that I've kept any longer is THE old girl and that's about 42 yrs. As before I will try and post some pics asap
Intake Manifold is an Edelbrock Aluminum High rise 2BBL Planning to go 20 to 30 over. Keep you posted.
I've owned my truck for 15 years.
The Manifold is from the 70's
