That's the "beer can effect" you see that on old high mileage uni body cars too, given road conditions and mileage sooner or later metal fatigue sets in, it might have other hidden places cracked also.................
Just out of curiousity, how would you go about clamping this thing together to weld it? The thing is curved with not a square corner anywhere.
put the chassis up on some tall jack stands behind the front cab mounts and cracks will probably close up itself, drill the ends of each crack and a good stick welder could make this repair. no mig required but would look a little cleaner when done. might not even need any jacking or pulling frame together.............
this has been driven for 4 yrs like this? nobody noticed?

No need to clamp it together, it just "self adjusted" to conditions. A good Arc Welder can fill that in, grind it down, a little paint..........all gone.
