load level air suspension

Can someone tell me what is the deal with this air suspension on 98 Expy 4x4? Why do you need to turn off if lifting or towing vehicle? What exactly happens to air suspension then?

I have been having tires rotated without turning off suspension at tire center on lift. Could I have done any harm or would damage be obvious?

Thanks for any replies.

You would definitely know if you had damaged the system. I would be sure to turn the system off before lifting any wheel off of the ground. If you had hurt the system, you could tell by the uneven attitude of the vehicle. After damage, the Expy will sit crooked, all tires seem to be uneven. If it is damaged, you would not have to ask, you could tell.

I just bought a 98 Expedition EB and I've noticed it sits low on the drivers side. How do you adjust the suspension to balance (or raise)the stance?

Regarding the correction of ride height, the owners manual gives specifics for this procedure. I have to turn the system off whenever I unhook from my trailer. I can't crank the jack down fast enough to unhook before the bags inflate and catch up to the tongue. I think Ford should include a suspension dump switch on the dash just unhooking trailers.
